Ruwan writes the hotel coverage for the Sri Lanka desk. Boutique stays in Galle Fort, eco-lodges in the hill country, beach resorts in Mirissa and Tangalle, and the hostels along the south coast surf belt all tend to carry his byline.

He follows the same approach as the UK desk: books under his own name, pays full rates, and writes up what actually happens at check-in, breakfast, and checkout. He's particularly alert to the gap between what an English-language listing promises and what the staff on the ground actually deliver.
